OT mad me mad tonight.

So I decide to wander into the Global Warming thread. I post in my subject line that I am not convinced. So the person who hates Bush and beleives in global warming, says I need to do a little more info. Well here what ticked me off, I put I don't think Global warming affects our weather but I do belive is has an affect over the Izine layer. Well that person says I need to not look out the window and do reasearch to prove what I am saying. Can we respect people opinions, we don't know if Global warming is affecting our weather, well this person acts like they're 100% sure. I am just really pissed. I'll do some research. I want to say just because I am aginst something that you beleive doesn't always mean your right.

Sorry but I had some hurt feelings.

UK, I saw the posts and I just have to say hang in there and keep a tough skin.

I too have been put out lately with the approach of some people over there about how they know everything and they are RIGHT! That is one reason why I am not posting over there that much any more.

Keep your head held high and keep believing in what you believe. You have the right to your opinion and the right to express it!

I think part of it is the age difference. I'm in my 20s & still feel a lack of experience & knowledge on a lot of topics. I've found my views have changed on MANY things since I was younger, and a lot of that WAS due to more education during college.

I think it's awesome that you are willing to swim with an older crowd around OT. There are only a few of you brave enough to do that. I enjoy the diversity it adds. Think of OT as a learning experience. It often forces me to do more research on topics I have limited info on. My assumptions and beliefs are sometimes completely flipped when I read a little more.

So I try to take any jabs as a challenge to find out more & debate on facts. However, sometimes I just get hurt feelings & it's hard. Chin up, buddy!

I agree with volsfan, weltek, and nutz. I will add that I remember seeing the exchange (but I can't look at it now because OT is refusing to load on my computer) and I don't think that it was meant to be personal. I don't remember who exactly made the comment to you (though I do have a couple of guesses), but I do think that the reaction you received overflowered from a conversation taking place higher up in the thread where there was some real asshattery taking place.

Would it make you feel any better to realize that whoever made the comment was treating you just like she would treat any adult? She didn't treat you with kid gloves just because you happen to be younger. From one point of view, you could take that as a sign of respect in and of itself.

Thanks for the support everybody. I guess its an ok but I have decided that I will probably stay out of a thread when there is no other views in the thread.

HD: I know it wasn't personal but I was felt like it was. Sometimes I can overeact and this was one of those times.
