My SEC Basketball Picks
Its getting close to conference play in basketball. I'm going to predict the SEC. The SEC is getting back up there but still isn't up there with Big East, Big 12 and ACC.
SEC East
SEC East
- Kentucky- Strong back court with Rondo, Sparks, and Crawford. With Morris comming back the front court will be very strong with Rekalin Sims.
- Florida- They're doing great right now, but I think they're too young to play with the Cats. But it would not surprise me, if they win the SEC East.
- Tennessee- Has one of the best backcourts in the SEC. They will lead the SEC in three poinr shooting. There are some flaws with their defense, but non the less this is a tournament worthy team.
- Vanderbilt- Solid team, but they have flaws down low and may have a hard time playing defense
- South Carolina- I would have them at number 3 but they haven't lived up to their expectations. The talents there but they seem to have some problems, but they might be a sleeper pick.
- Georgia- Very young, they have 5 freshmen and 5 sophomores. Even though they have won almost as many games as they had last year, they will struggle in the SEC.
SEC West
- Alabama- Lost a lot of player's but they have retooled their team to once again dominate the SEC West. They're young but have a lot of talent.
- LSU- They are very strong, look out, they could be explosive on offense and defense. They will compete with the Tides but the coaching will keep them from winning the West.
- Arkansas- The Razorsback are seeing light at the end of the tunnel. But they're still learning how to play with the SEC. Look for them to get an NIT bid.
- Mississippi State- They lost Robert's and their guard. They will struggle a lot. They need Robert's and will more than likely be left out of the NIT, they are going to be way too young.
- Mississippi- They have never been a basketball school and once again will have a very bad season, and finish up near the bottom.
- Auburn- Very bad team, and will have their worst season in years. There's nothing good about their team.
The SEC will get 6 teams in the tournament this year.
Tourney Bound: Kentucky, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, Vanderbilt.
South Carolina will be a bubble team and will be left out.

I can't really disagree with you on the West but I don't know about the East. I would go with Florida winning the East. I know better than to pick against a Tubby coached team. If Tennessee makes the tournament then Pearl deserves to be coach of the year.
Tennessee's defense is much better this year than last.
I see florida slumping during the SEc. I remember a couple of years ago, wehre they were ranked #1 comming into confrence play and they ended up loosing 3 or 4 confrence games. And Vols, your backcourt can size up against some great teams. I think you all will get in the tournament. I'll probably come out with a new set of predictions in early February when we hit midway through confrence play.
